Max Benjamin is a family-owned candle-making studio located in the Wicklow Mountains of Ireland, surrounded by fragrant hedgerows and beautiful natural scenery.

The roots of the brand go back to the 1970s, when the Van den Bergh family’s Belgian father and Irish mother moved to this remote and charming part of Ireland. They brought with them a classic Flemish sense of aesthetics, which naturally carried over into the next generation. Growing up in the wild landscape of Glencree Valley helped shape the family’s connection to design, nature, and adventure.

After returning from New York in 1996, Orla Van den Bergh founded the candle-making business. The brand was later renamed Max Benjamin after her twin sons, Max and Ben.

From the very beginning, the brand has been built on the idea of enriching everyday life through the power of evocative fragrance. This philosophy remains at the heart of Max Benjamin to this day. The company is now considered one of Ireland’s leading makers of handmade home fragrance products, with a presence on the international market.
