Cotton wick

The key to getting the most out of a candle—and to achieving maximum fragrance intensity—is the right wick. Ours is woven to burn with a steady, bright flame without releasing unwanted black soot. Before each lighting, the wick should ideally be 0.8–1 cm long, so it’s best to check it and trim if needed. Once lit, don’t extinguish the candle until most of the miniatures have melted and the wax has also reached the edge of the glass.

Wax

Lighting a scented candle should be associated with comfort—and that certainly shouldn’t include worries about your health. SOJKA candles are made exclusively from top-quality natural waxes, so there’s no risk of toxic fumes like those that can occur with common paraffin candles.

The Ten Commandments of Proper Use

• Never leave a burning candle unattended or within reach of children and pets—safety always comes first.

• Before lighting, place the candle on a non-flammable base.

• If needed, trim the wick to 0.4–0.5 cm above the wax.

• Always set the candle on a flat, non-flammable surface.

• For the first burn, let the candle burn for 3–4 hours so all miniatures can melt. Before extinguishing, a full melt pool should form all the way to the edge.

• Do not leave a burning candle within reach of children.

• Do not leave a burning candle within reach of pets.

• Do not burn the candle in a draft, as it may cause smoking/sooting.

• Keep a safe distance between burning candles.

• Do not burn the candle for longer than 4 hours. Extinguish the flame—do not blow it out.

• Always read the instructions on the candle packaging.

By following these instructions, you can enjoy a burn time of around 58 hours.

The wick should be no longer than 1 cm above the wax, so it’s a good idea to check and trim it when needed. Once lit, don’t extinguish the candle until the wax has melted all the way to the edge of the glass. The first burn—creating a full melt pool—can take 3–4 hours, so make time for your first candle experience. However, do not burn the candle for more than 4 hours at a time. The candle’s design intentionally features an unconventional surface, which may affect the flame behavior—it may occasionally go out. In that case, simply relight the wick. Even if the wick is partly submerged in wax or charred, it can still burn. Enjoy your relaxation.
