How to choose a home fragrance
Diffuser or candle?
A diffuser works continuously, needs no supervision and is safe in a home with small children or pets. A candle is stronger, but only while it burns — and it adds light and atmosphere to the scent. They work best together: the diffuser holds the base note of the room, the candle is what you light in the evening.
How large a space a diffuser covers
A 100 ml bottle comfortably scents an ordinary living room or bedroom of up to about 25 m². In a larger open-plan space, place two diffusers in opposite corners rather than one in the middle — fragrance travels with the movement of the air, not evenly outwards from its source.
Which fragrance for which room
- Living room takes bolder woody and forest scents — juniper, moss, forest berries.
- Bedroom calls for something calmer: lavender, linden flowers, wild flowers.
- Kitchen and dining room — choose citrus and herbal notes that won't clash with cooking.
- Hallway and bathroom are ideal for a diffuser, since there is usually nowhere to leave a candle burning.
Getting the most from your diffuser
Unscrew the wooden cap, remove the security plug and screw the cap back on. Insert the reeds and the fragrance will start to release on its own. You control the intensity by how many reeds you use — the more, the stronger. Once a week, flip the reeds so the soaked ends face up to refresh the scent. Keep the diffuser out of direct sunlight and away from radiators, or the fragrance will evaporate far too quickly.
