Munio Candela: Latvian Candles That Bloom As They Burn
Sometimes the best gift is the one that doesn't compete with the flowers, but quietly completes them. That's exactly what Munio Candela soy candles do — which is why you'll find them among our gifts to pair with a bouquet. Here's the story behind the brand, what makes these candles special, and how to pick the right one.
The story behind the brand
Munio Candela was founded in Latvia in 2008 by Elina Cima. Her sisters, Laura and Liene, later joined the studio, turning it into a family workshop that still hand-pours every single candle today. The Latin name points to the strength and spiritual weight of fire — and once you light one for the first time, it's easy to see why.

A candle that turns into a lantern
What truly sets Munio Candela apart is the way it burns. As the wax around the flame melts, it forms a thin wall that gradually lights up the dried flowers and herbs pressed inside the candle. Over the course of an evening, the candle slowly transforms into a small lantern glowing with meadow flowers, heather, or juniper. It's the kind of detail you only notice once you've turned off the lights and let the flame do the talking.

Why soy wax
These candles are poured from soy and rapeseed wax — plant-based, renewable materials, unlike paraffin, which is a byproduct of oil refining. Soy wax burns cleanly with no soot, so you won't find black marks on the wall above the candle. It also burns more slowly, meaning a candle of the same size lasts longer. And if the wax spills, it washes off easily with soap and water.
Don't throw away the leftover wax once the candle is spent, either — tuck it into a fabric sachet to scent your wardrobe, or break it up for use in an aroma lamp.
Choosing your scent
Our selection includes Munio Candela in four scents, each available in two sizes:
- Rose — a safe, universal choice if you're not sure who the candle is for.
- Forest Berries — sweeter and fruitier, well suited to a living room.
- Heather — a calm, meadow scent from the Nordic landscape, lovely for a bedroom.
- Juniper & Lime — fresh and woody, a bolder pick for anyone who likes a bit of contrast.
The small candle (220 ml) burns for 10–15 hours and makes a lovely small addition to a bouquet, or a way to try a scent before committing to the larger size. The large candle (515 ml) burns for up to 50 hours and works perfectly well as a standalone gift. Both share the same diameter and differ only in height.

How to burn it properly
- Before lighting for the first time, trim the wick to 1 cm and let the candle burn until most of the surface has melted — this helps it burn evenly every time after.
- Trim the wick back to 1 cm before each subsequent lighting; a longer wick will produce soot.
- Never let the candle burn for more than 3–4 hours at a time, and never leave it unattended.
- Place it on a heat-resistant surface, away from drafts and out of reach of children and pets.
- If the wax wall around the flame cracks and opens up, that's completely normal — it's simply revealing the dried flowers inside.
Candle and flowers, one delivery
We deliver Munio Candela candles across Brno and the surrounding area on their own, or together with a bouquet in the same order — so your gift arrives all at once, no extra steps required. If you'd rather have fragrance without a flame, we also carry Munio aroma diffusers in the same scents.
You'll find the full selection and current prices on our Munio Candela soy candles page.
